What it's about

You’ve learned the foundations of improv storytelling in level 3. Now it’s time to go deeper and discover the art of long-form narrative improv. Narrative improv takes a single audience suggestion and transforms it into a completely improvised full-length play, with one narrative arc unfolding across the entire performance. With more time to inhabit the world of the story, you can develop richer characters, explore relationships in greater depth, and allow the story to evolve naturally rather than rushing to find the next laugh. Over seven weeks, you’ll learn how to create and sustain a compelling story as an ensemble — without a script, predetermined plot, or knowing where the story will end. You’ll learn: • to create and sustain one narrative arc across an entire improvised play • to create richer, more fully developed characters who can grow and change as the story unfolds • to use the relationships to drive the story • how to recognise the central story and make choices that move it forward • the balance of storytelling with spontaneous comedy without sacrificing the integrity of the narrative • to work as an ensemble to tell one shared story arc rather than a collection of individual scenes PREREQUISITES You must have completed all courses in levels 1–3.
