Come sharpen your improvisational character skills with Australia’s favourite (and most renowned) improviser! This one-off workshop at Blah Blah Blah Improv will arm you with tools to give your scene work depth and authenticity. Comedy comes from the choices you make from the character’s perspective and Jason gives you tips and tricks to achieve this from 30 years of improv and sketch comedy experience. ABOUT YOUR GUEST TEACHER Jason Geary has been improvising for 30 years. He has studied with some of the most influential improv teachers in the world, including Randy Dixon and Keith Johnstone. Jason was a founding member of Impro Melbourne and after 17 years with the company became the Artistic Director for three years before departing to pursue his goal of teaching and performing improv around the world. He has been a guest director and artist-in-residence at theatres in Stockholm, Milan and Portland, Oregon where he directed seasons with those companies and produced new improvised works. Jason has been invited to teach and perform at improv festivals in Cape Town, Berlin, Paris, Wurzberg, Hamburg, Stockholm, Los Angeles, Seattle, Barcelona, Reunion Island, Wellington, and Amsterdam. His original interpretation of the craft and his pursuit of pushing the boundaries of how audiences perceive improvised theatre, see him held in high regard in the improv community in Australia and around the world. You may recognize him from his iSelect ads, Utopia (ABC) or as an ensemble member of the hit improv TV series Thank God You’re Here (Network 10). PREREQUISITE You must have completed the Improv: Fun and Games course, OR have completed a multi-week level 1 course with a reputable improv company. If you’ve learnt improv somewhere else, please email lol@blahblahblahimprov.com to confirm experience suitability before booking. WHEN AND WHERE This workshop takes place at 124 Marine Pde, Coolangatta, Qld from 6pm until 9pm on Sunday, 26 April 2026.
Cancellation policy
Cancellations & changes Packages for improv jams: You will get a full refund of your package credit if you cancel or change your booking up to 12 hours before the improv session starts. One-off workshop, casual jams, or masterclass: You will get a refund (less the cost of payment gateway, website transaction, and banking fees) if you cancel up to seven days before the session. Multiple-week courses: You will get a refund (less the cost of payment gateway, website transaction, and banking fees) if you cancel up to two weeks before the course commences. For cancellations of workshops and courses that do not fall within the above timelines, you will receive credit to go towards the next class or workshop. This does not apply to cancellations of jams.
