Character Relationships
Unlock the heart of great improv: authentic, meaningful relationships. In Character Relationships, you’ll learn to slow down and discover real, grounded points of view that bring depth and truth to your scenes, making them come alive. Over four dynamic sessions, you’ll learn how to create authentic, layered relationships between characters, adding depth, emotion, and intrigue to your performances. Whether you’re building a quirky friendship, a long-standing rivalry, or a heartfelt bond, you’ll discover techniques to sustain compelling interactions that captivate audiences and energise your fellow performers.
Learn how to:
-
establish clear character dynamics from the first moment.
-
respond to emotional shifts to keep relationships fresh and engaging.
-
create lasting connections that drive your storytelling.
-
apply all of this to a long-form format.
Through carefully crafted exercises, you’ll build instincts that help your scenes flourish and connect with audiences on a deeper level. You’ll explore how to navigate the subtleties of relationship dynamics between characters, uncover genuine moments of humour, and develop scenes that are both heartfelt and hilarious.
With feedback from your teacher, you’ll gain insight into your unique strengths and identify opportunities for growth. The course concludes in learning and practising a long-form format where you’ll bring everything together, showcasing your ability to create rich, dynamic character relationships that captivate and entertain.
Every character relationship holds the potential for unforgettable moments.
