What it's about

You’ve learnt edits. You know how to build scenes. Now it’s time to learn how to make audiences lean in. Storytelling 1 is where improvisers begin creating bigger theatrical experiences—long-form improv that feels connected, meaningful, funny, and completely made up on the spot. You’ll learn how to take one tiny idea and spin it into something surprisingly genius and ridiculously funny. It’s challenging—but in the best possible “I can’t believe we just did that” kind of way. Across six weeks, you’ll develop the foundations of compelling improvised storytelling while learning up to two iconic Chicago-style long-form formats. You’ll discover how tiny ideas can grow into memorable worlds, recurring themes, surprising callbacks, and stories that feel like they were written in advance. You’ll explore how to: • build compelling stories from almost nothing • recognise patterns and connections that strengthen a show • create scenes that support larger story structures • heighten ideas while maintaining authenticity • identify when a scene needs to pivot • make choices that drive momentum and audience investment • find comedy through truth rather than forcing jokes • learn up to two classic long-form formats: Armando and Living Room This course challenges improvisers to think bigger, trust their instincts more deeply, and discover how extraordinary improvised storytelling can become. PREREQUISITES You must have completed levels 1 and 2.
